Well, Andersen made it 14 months.
On Sunday morning, we woke up and as I walked into the kids bedroom, Hayley was saying, "Mom, I pooped in my bed. Look! See!" When I looked at her sheets, I realized it was not poop but vomit that surrounded her pillow. Yuck! Even worse, it was all dry so it had happened sometime during the night.
Then came Andersen. He was screaming so I got him out of bed and tried to put him in the high chair for breakfast. No way was he having that. He screamed and squirmed and so I picked him back up.
Then I decided he was probably thirsty so I set him down to go fill up a sippy cup. He started banging his head on the floor, tensing his whole body and then shaking all limbs, crawling around in circles, etc. He seemed to be writhing in pain and I had no idea what was wrong.
We called my dad and asked him about it and he suggested looking for bug bites, since it sounded like some sort of allergic reaction. We found a red bite on his arm with a trail of red going down his arm.
My heart sank.
My dad said to call poison control and they said that it sounded like a scorpion sting or a black widow bite. The nurse seemed worried that his weird symptoms could also be something else so she had us wait 30 min to see if he calmed down and if he didnt, we were to head to the hospital.
He didnt calm down.
But OF COURSE, when we arrived at Cardon's, my boy was all smiles...
We left Cardon's about 5 hours after arriving and Andersen has been fine ever since. It was such a scary thing to witness, seeing your child going ballistic and seeming incoherent to his surroundings but we are so glad for answered prayers that helped our strong little guy pull through and come out happy and healthy in the end.
Now someone just needs to teach Andersen that sticking his legs through the railings of his crib WILL in fact hurt and his leg WILL in fact get stuck and he WILL in fact have to scream for mom or dad to come release his leg from the jaws of his crib.
He seriously has been doing this at least 3 times before he'll fall asleep at night and before naptime. When will he learn...
